Lines
You have nine different categories to select. Except as specified below, forward lines are listed in the format LW-C-RW, the defence pairs LD-RD.
- Even Strength: These are the lines that are used during normal, 5-on-5 play.
- Power Play 5 on 4: These are the lines that are used when your team has a power play and is playing with 5 skaters against the opponents' 4. The second defence spot (normally RD) can be occupied by a forward with none of the usual penalties associated with playing out of position.
- Power Play 5 on 3: These are the lines that are used when your team has a power play and is playing with 5 skaters against the opponents' 3. The second defence spot (normally RD) can be occupied by a forward with none of the usual penalties associated with playing out of position.
- 4 on 4: These are the lines that are used when both teams are shorthanded and playing with 4 skaters each. Only two forwards are selected, instead of three; their exact position isn't specified.
- Penalty Kill 4 on 5: These are the lines that are used when your team is shorthanded and playing with 4 skaters against the opponents' 5. Only two forwards are selected, instead of three; their exact position isn't specified.
- Penalty Kill 3 on 5: These are the lines that are used when your team is shorthanded and playing with 3 skaters against the opponents' 5. Only one forward is selected, instead of three; his exact position isn't specified.
- Goalies: These are the team's two goaltenders; G1 is the starter for the game, G2 is the backup. During the game, G1 is the goalie currently in goal, G2 is on the bench.
- Shootout spots: These five players are the players the team will use in a shootout, in shooting order.
Note: during 3-on-3 situations, the AI will use the best available rested defensive pair and the best available rested forward. During 4-on-3 and 3-on-4, it will use the 4-on-4 and 3-on-5 line lists, respectively.
Action Menu
The Action Menu offers three options on this screen:

- Ask Assistant asks your computer assistant to set the lines using the current lineup.
- AI Setup Organization asks your computer assistant to reset your entire organization, which may involved players being called up or sent down, dressed, or scratched.
